Apopka Youth Council

The Apopka Youth Council (AYC) is comprised of civic-minded youth that have expressed an interest in local government. 

Members will learn about local government, identify ways to improve Apopka for its youth, recommend and/or create activities that will appeal to Apopka youth, and participate in community events. 

This group is educated on City operations and perform service projects throughout the year.

2020-2021 Apopka Youth Council Members

On Wednesday, March 17, 2021 the Apopka Youth Council members visited the Apopka Fire Department and learned about their therapy dog program and toured the training facility.

Apopka Youth Council at Apopka Police Department

On Thursday, April 8, 2021 the Apopka Youth Council (AYC) visited the Apopka Police Department and learned about the K9 unit and specialized vehicles. They also conducted a tour of the Apopka Police Station.

Registration is currently closed for AYC. Please check back for updates for the 2021-2021 School Year. 

Requirements

  • Enrolled in 9th to 12th grade at an Apopka area high school or home-school
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA
  • Be civic-minded
  • Must commit to attending monthly AYC meetings and participate in community events
